Michigan's offensive tackle riddle could be solved by transfer

ANN ARBOR — Michigan isn’t quite done scouring the transfer market.

During the offseason, the Wolverines have already secured the services of former Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson and Utah cornerback Casey Hughes. Now, Michigan could snag Rice offensive tackle Calvin Anderson.

Michigan offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Tim Drevno met with Anderson Wednesday, according to a Twitter post from Anderson’s account. Anderson posted a photo of he and Drevno with the caption, “What a blast shooting golf balls at @Topgolf with coach Drevno! @CoachDrev can’t believe he beat me. Looking forward to seeing Ann Arbor this weekend.”

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Anderson is one of the most sought-after graduate transfers in the country. He reportedly has received offers from Oklahoma, Auburn, and Texas, among others. Anderson is scheduled to visit Michigan this weekend.

Mason Cole’s absence leaves a major void on Michigan’s offensive line, and Anderson would slide in and be the left tackle. The Wolverines are also recruiting five-star tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere and four-star tackle Jarrett Patterson.
