Delphos St. John's streak ends at 57

FINDLAY - Kevin Thobe scored on a trick play as Maria Stein Marion Local beat defending champion Delphos St. John's 24-20 in a Division VI state semifinal game last night.

The loss snapped St. John's state-record winning streak at 57 games. The Blue Jays (13-1) were going for their fourth straight state title.

Thobe gave the Flyers (13-1) a 24-20 lead with less than eight minutes left on a 56-yard pass from wide receiver Brian Wolters.

DSJ beat Marion Local last year in the state semifinals and won 42-21 earlier this year. The Blue Jays' last loss was 1996, 30-0 to Minster.
