Boys sectionals: Scarbrough, Nelson pace Clay

Devin Scarbrough scored 22 points and John Nelson added 11 as Clay defeated Whitmer 48-43 last night in boys Division I sectional basketball at Libbey.

The pair carried the load especially in the early going as Scarbrough had 11 and Nelson eight first-half points as Clay (11-9) led 30-24 at the break.

Todd Lindroth paced Whitmer (11-9) with 20 points and Jermaine Fletcher added 12.

Clay outscored Whitmer 8-4 at the foul line and hit four treys to Whitmer s three.

SOUTHVIEW 82, WAITE 57

Steve Kyser scored 21 points and Ray Thomas added 20 for Southview (18-3), which led 44-25 by halftime at Libbey.

Aaron Waldie added 12 points and Jamar Murchison 10 for the Cougars.

Darrion Griffin led Waite (10-11) with 19 points and Mike Lucas added 12.

ST. JOHN S 103,

WOODWARD 52

B.J. Raymond scored 30 points, Brian Roberts had 22 and Jonathon Dunn 13 as St. John s (17-4) rolled at Waite.

Theron Jones paced Woodward with 20 points.

Ten players scored for the Titans, who outscored Woodward 25-3 at the foul line.

St. John s hit eight treys and Woodward canned seven.

NORTHVIEW 46,

SPRINGFIELD 33

Cody Shoemaker scored 15 points to lead Northview at Waite.

Kirk McKenney and Bryan Heidtman added 11 points apiece for the Wildcats.

Dee Alexander and Fletcher Noble paced Springfield with nine points apiece.

ANTHONY WAYNE 52,

FINDLAY 48

FINDLAY - Joe McVicker paced Anthony Wayne with 27 points at Liberty-Benton, including nine in the fourth quarter when the Generals outscored Findlay 20-12.

Brian Bayus hit two foul shots with five seconds to play to secure the win.

Findlay got 18 points from Jack Miller.

The Generals were outscored 14-11 at the foul line but hit seven treys to Findlay s four.

CELINA 67,

BOWLING GREEN 53

FINDLAY - Joe Kanney scored 16 points as Celina (17-4) won at Liberty-Benton.

Jimmy Green paced the Bobcats (14-7) with 17 points, Michael Graffin added 12, Mike Frye 11 and Ryan Hoehner 10.

COLUMBIAN 75,

MARION HARDING 65

WILLARD - Tiffin Columbian won in overtime as Robert Kisabeth scored 22, Derek Rinehart added 13 and Jon Elchert and Allen Hoke had 10 apiece.

Marshall Starks scored 22 for Harding.

The result left both teams 9-12.

BRYAN 43, EASTWOOD 36

Noah Stelzer and Chris Carpenter scored 14 points apiece as Bryan (11-10) pulled off an upset at Perrysburg.

Kevin Leady paced Eastwood (14-7), which opened the game with a three-point first quarter, with 22 points.

FOSTORIA 70,

NAPOLEON 69

Fostoria s Jacob Diebler picked up his fourth foul with 2:40 left in the third quarter at Perrysburg - and didn t miss a beat.

Diebler never left the game and led Fostoria with 25 points. Brother Jon Diebler added 15.

Napoleon got 16 points from Kyle Bostelman, 13 from Jeremy Davis and 11 from Ryan Funchion.

CLYDE 63, OAK HARBOR 57

SANDUSKY - Matt Muratori scored 22 points as Clyde (8-13) bumped Oak Harbor in overtime.

Kevin Favro had 16 and Justin Tank and Eric Dusseau 15 apiece for Oak Harbor (10-10).
