Girls basketball: Lake, Oak Harbor, Eastwood roll to wins

LAKE 58, NORTHWOOD 22

MILLBURY — Kayla Bekier had 15 points as the host Flyers used a 19-0 first-quarter run to beat the Rangers in a nonleague season opener Saturday.

Lexi Robinson added 12 points for Lake.

Olivia Randall had 11 points for Northwood.

OAK HARBOR 57, ROSSFORD 28

Logan Harris finished with 18 points as the Rockets used a 36-14 second-half run to pull away from the Bulldogs in a nonleague season opener for both teams.

Sophia Eli added 13 points for Oak Harbor, which only led 21-14 at halftime. Abby Dornbusch chipped in 11 points.

Haleigh Peters and Maddie Schimming finished with six points apiece for Rossford.

EASTWOOD 67, EVERGREEN 41

PEMBERVILLE — Jamie Schmeltz had 29 points as the host Eagles ran away from the Vikings in the fourth quarter in a noleague game. Hanna Limes added 11 for the Eagles.

For Evergreen, Hanna Herr had 18 points.

Late Friday

MAUMEE 54, GENOA 36

MAUMEE — Lauren Johnson had 20 points and the host Panthers raced out to a 16-7 lead after the first quarer en route to a nonleague season-opening win against the Comets.

Alissa Schneider added 18 points for Maumee, which went up by 10 at halftime and 19 after three quarters. Brynn Brown finished with 12 rebounds for the Panthers.

Kendall Gerke finished with 10 points for Genoa.

FAYETTE 50, HILLTOP 30

FAYETTE — Trista Fruchey finished with 22 points as the host Eagles used a 39-20 run in the final three quarters of a season-opening nonleague win against the Cadets.

Addisyn Bentley added 10 points for Fayette, which led 23-16 at halftime.
