Boys basketball: Williams scores 18 to spark Start

Devin Williams scored 18 points as the host Spartans held on to win the opener for both boys basketball teams Friday night.

Ryan Roth finished with 16 points for the Trojans, and Ryan Num added 14.

Patrick Henry 61, Napoleon 32

HAMLER — Christian Petersen led nine scorers for the Patriots with 16 points and Xavier Wensick added 13 in the home win.

Jarrett Gerdeman led Napoleon with nine points.

Oak Harbor 54, Genoa 42

OAK HARBOR — Clay Schulte scored 16 points, Aric McAtee 12, and Jac Alexander 10 as the Rockets won at home.

Jake Plantz led the Comets with 17 points. Andrew Bench added 15.

Ottawa Hills 63, Delta 38

In the opener for both teams, the Green Bears easily defended their home floor. Tommy Coil scored 16, Eliot Cummings 15, and James Silk 10.

The Panthers were paced by Bowen Green with 16 and Brady Wymer with 10.

Wellington 64, Maumee Valley 53

COLUMBUS — Solomon Pierre-Louis had 25 points, Bob Fulmer scored 18, Noah Berry had 11 points for host Wellington. The Jaguars (1-0) led by six points at halftime. and outscored Maumee Valley 15-9 in the third quarter.

Zeb Jackson led the Hawks with 18 points, and Dez Jett scored 10.

Liberty Center 32, Holgate 23

LIBERTY CENTER — Austin Like and Carter Burdue both scored 12 points for the host Tigers.

Louie Gustwiller led Holgate with 11 points.

Ottawa-Glandorf 70, Bryan 60

OTTAWA — Owen Hiegel and Jake Dible each scored 14 points as the Titans opened the season with a double-digit victory. Ethan White scored 13 points, and Aaron Rieman added 10 points.

The Golden Bears were led by three double-figure scorers. Zhane Cupp scored 23 points, Peyton Lamberson had 17 points and Evan Smith added 15 points.
