The best performances from Friday night

    • From a pair of Titans who struck from the air to a Blue Devil who etched his name in the school record book, Week 2 of high school football saw its share of outstanding individual performances. Here are the best.

    TOP PASSERS

    Braydon Lichtenberg, St. John’s Jesuit: It was the Braydon-and-Dimitri show for the Titans in Friday’s win over Perrysburg. The sophomore signal caller completed 18 of his 28 attempts for 289 yards and two long touchdowns. Eleven of his completions went to Dimitri, who had a blast against the Yellow Jackets, too.

    Kyle Kromenacker, Rossford: The junior torched Port Clinton for 355 yards and five touchdowns, completing 24-of-41 passes.  

    Logan Heintschel, Clay: The sophomore has two starts under his belt for Clay, and both have been stunning performances. In a loss to Northview, Heintschel threw for 399 yards and two scores.

    Trevor Wensink, Toledo Christian: He only attempted 12 passes, but Wensink did plenty with those chances, completing nine passes for 330 yards and four touchdowns. Oh, and he also added a 23-yard TD run for good measure. 

    TOP RUSHERS

    Malachi Wyse, St. Francis: Wyse was nothing if not dangerously efficient — he totaled 209 yards on 16 carries, and one quarter of those carries and nearly 85 percent of those yards went for touchdowns. Wyse has rushing TDs of 1, 41, 67, and 68 yards.

    Jaden Rayford, Eastwood: The 6-foot-1 junior led the Eagles rushing attack with 227 yards on 16 carries — 14.2 yards per carry — and an 83-yard touchdown run in the win over Bowling Green. The Eagles totaled 340 yards, averaging 6.7 yards per rush.

    Trent Simms, Northview: The junior quarterback rushed for 204 yards and a score, also returning a punt for a 50-yard touchdown in a win at Clay. 

    Javon Pratt, Waite: The Indians junior quarterback had 12 carries for 182 yards, and he threw for two touchdowns in a win over visiting Maumee.

    TOP RECEIVERS

    Dimitri Mitsopoulos, St. John’s Jesuit: There was no containing the 5-foot-11 junior in the TItans’ win over Perrysburg. He caught 11 balls for 213 yards and a pair of scores, and his touchdown catches alone totaled 118 yards.

    Nick Kaufman, Anthony Wayne: Last week, it was Max Bradfield. This week, it was Kaufman’s turn to lead the Generals receiving corp. In the win over Tiffin Columbian, Kaufman caught five passes for 92 yards.

    Harry Jackson, Lake: Jackson did his damage through the air and on the ground. He had four grabs for 208 yards and two TDs, adding a 68-yard rushing score as Lake beat Northwood.

    Cam Reynolds, Rossford: Reynolds was the beneficiary of quarterback Kyle Kromenacker’s huge night, totaling 207 receiving yards and three touchdowns in a loss to Port Clinton.

    SPECIAL TEAMS

    Kyle Rhonehouse, Springfield: Hey, if you remember Jim Tressel, special teams is the most important part of the game. Rhonehouse made sure his Friday night was special indeed, booting a 53-yard field goal in a win over Bowsher, setting a new school record in the process.

    Jake Baumgartner, Start: The Spartans broke into the win column on the road, and Baumgartner’s three field goals didn’t hurt their cause.
