Stars come out to shine in Week 3

    • Blowouts, nail biters, and everything in between — Week 3 had it all. Here are the players who made it happen on Friday night.

    Top Passers

    Jacob Plantz, Genoa: Plantz played a role in every Comets TD and accounted for 68 percent of their offense, throwing for 194 yards and three TDs and rushing for another 53 yards and two scores. He completed 8-of-15 passes with no picks, rolling up a 138.2 quarterback rating.

    Andrew Warncke, Napoleon: The junior completed 4-of-7 passes, but three of those went for scores, and he totaled 169 yards through the air. His 77-yard strike to Logan Shepard started the rout midway through the first quarter.

    Javon Pratt, Waite: The junior did everything for the Indians, who improved to 3-0 for the first time in 30 years with a rivalry win over Clay. He rushed for 128 yards and threw for another 140, completing 12-of-19. None of his completions were more important than his last second connection with Alex Boose as time ran down.

    Riley Keller, Whitmer: Keller rebounded from a disappointing Week 2 with a blowout Panthers win this week, throwing for 183 yards and three TDs. The junior completed 15-of-22 passes.

    Brady Lichtenberg, St. John’s: Lichtenberg is making his home on the Top Performers list. This week, he went for 274 yards and five touchdowns, competing 23-of-31 passes. His five scoring tosses traveled 113 yards.

    Brayton Schmidt, Southview: The Cougars fell to Scott, but Schmidt threw for 238 yards and two TDs while making good on 14 of his 27 attempts.

    A.J. Gucciardo, Springfield: The Blue Devils might have lost to Lewis Center Olentangy, but the senior took off with 353 passing yards and four touchdowns.

    Bryce Hoehner, Bowling Green: The senior went for 171 yards, completing a deadly precise 9-of-10 passes with a TD throw in.

    Top Rushers

    Will Tibbels, Danbury: The Lakers got back on the winning track in Week 3, and the sophomore led the way with 211 rushing yards and a score.

    Ezra Scott, Anthony Wayne: It’s another week and another win for Anthony Wayne. This week, Scott shouldered the offensive load, rushing for 157 yards and two scores, averaging nearly 6 yards per carry. He opened the scoring with a 1-yard plunge midway through the first quarter, and his final TD was a 19-yarder that gave the Generals its final cushion.

    Jarrett Gerdeman, Napoleon: The Wildcats rolled up 191 rushing yards, and Gerdeman led the way with an even 100 on 18 carries. He scored twice — a 27-yard run late in the first half, and a 23-yard burst late in the fourth quarter.

    Malachi Wyse, St. Francis: The senior kept on chewing up yards, carrying 24 times for 187 yards. He scored on runs of 41 and 31 yards.

    Jaden Rayford, Eastwood: The Eagles pounded out 417 rushing yards, and Rayford led the way with 185 yards on only 14 rushes. He scored three times, on runs of 28, 34, and 48 yards.

    Ceyleon Damron, Eastwood: Damron rushed for 149 yards in the Eagles dominating win, scoring on runs of 68 and 79 yards.

    Adam Iler, Bowling Green: The senior led the punishing Bobcats ground attached with 118 yards and two scores. BG rushed for 342 yards. 

    Maalik Tucker, Fostoria: Tucker rushed for 386 yards and five touchdowns on only 19 carries. For those scoring at home, that’s nearly 26 yards every time Tucker touched the ball.

    Perrion Jones, Scott: The Bulldogs improved to 3-0, and Jones was front and center, rushing for 146 yards on 18 totes with two scores, including a 55-yard blast.

    Top Receivers

    Daniel Novotney, Genoa: He might have only caught three passes, but those tosses turned into 93 yards and two TDs. His 57-yard scoring grab in the second quarter put the Comets up 20-0. He added another for 12 yards in the fourth.

    Logan Sheperd, Napoleon: The 6-foot-3 senior caught every pass the Wildcats completed Friday, hauling in four grabs for 169 yards and three scores. He averaged 42.3 yards per catch.

    Paul Latz, Cardinal Stritch: Latz was busy Friday night, catching seven passes for 75 yards and a score. He also led Stritch with 87 rushing yards and another TD on 17 carries.

    Jack Ryder, St. John’s: Ryder pulled in three TD passes and finished with five catches for 66 yards. His scoring catches accounted for 52 yards.

    Dimitrios Mitsopoulos, St. John’s: A week after torching Perrysburg for over 200 yards, Mitsopoulos went for 92 yards on nine catches in Week 3.

    Top Special Teams

    Jake Gladieux, Whitmer: The Panthers got some lightning right off the bat with Gladieux’s 78-yard return of the opening kickoff for a score.
