Walleye stop Nailers to win 5th in a row

WHEELING, W.Va. — Connor Crisp had two goals as the Toledo Walleye scored the final five goals of Tuesday’s game in a 6-2 victory against the Wheeling Nailers at WesBanco Arena.

Christian Hilbrich and Mike Embrich each had a goal and an assist for the Walleye (30-12-4), who have won five consecutive games. Dylan Sadowy and Eric Bradford also had goals, while Ryan Obuchowski had three assists and Davis Vandane added two.

Cody Wyo and Garrett Meurs each had a goal for the Nailers (26-19-4).

Sadowy tied the game at 2 at the 10:24 mark of the second, then Crisp got his first of the night 46 seconds later as Toledo took the lead for good.

Matej Machovsky had 32 saves for the Walleye to improve to 10-7-1 on the season. Adam Morrison stopped 30 of 34 shots before being pulled early in the third period for Wheeling. 

The Walleye host Kansas City at 7:15 p.m. Friday to start a three-game weekend homestand.
