University of Toledo freshman Cat Wells has been removed from the women’s basketball team, the school said today.

“Cat has been released officially from our team,” Rockets head coach Tricia Cullop said. “I wish her nothing but the best in the future.”

Wells, a 5-foot-5 point guard, averaged 11.9 points, 7.2 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game as a senior for Notre Dame Academy.

She led the Eagles to a 23-5 overall record and helped them advance to the state semifinals for the first time in school history. A four-year varsity player and three-year starter, Wells scored 924 career points.

Cullop suspended Wells indefinitely on Sept. 21 for breaking team rules.
