MONROE -- It's easy to describe Madison McElvany as a doll with her long brown hair, blue eyes, and infectious smile.

For those reasons, the 8-year-old was chosen as one of the newest models for American Girl, a company that sells dolls, accessories for dolls, clothes, furniture, books, and gifts for girls.

"It's a dream job for me," said Madison, the daughter of Josh and Jayme McElvany of Monroe.

Recently, the company hired her as one of its models, a job she will hold for the next 18 months. Beginning in September, Madison will be featured in the company's catalog, print advertising at its stores, and its Web site: americangirl.com.

The third-grader at Custer Elementary School is on a competitive dance team for Viva Dance Co., she is the reigning Little Miss Monroe County and Little Miss Michigan, and she and her mother organized Bully Revolution, a nonprofit group with the goal of ending bullying.
