In this summer of our economic discontent, with gas prices through the roof and debt crises in faraway countries eating away at our retirement savings, it’s nice to get some good news:

You can have a heck of a lot of fun without ever leaving the state of Ohio and you can find out about hundreds — seriously, hundreds — of things to do just by visiting www.toledoblade.com/summerfun.

In collaboration with the Ohio Newspaper Organization, a cooperative made up of the eight largest newspapers in the state, The Blade is presenting a massive list of festivals and attractions available throughout the state this summer. It’s organized by regions — northwest, northeast, southwest, southeast, and central.

Included in the package are professional sports teams, dozens of festivals, the major amusement parks, and a lot more, all just a few hours of driving away.
