Showtime’s ‘Homeland’ wraps up 2nd season

HOMELAND — As the spellbinding second season of this Emmy-winning political thriller comes to an end, Carrie (Claire Danes) and Brody (Damian Lewis) have some major decisions to make about their futures. Then again, will Brody even have a future? Not if Quinn follows through on his mission to assassinate him. No matter what happens, we expect to be riveted to the screen. 10 p.m. Sunday, Showtime.

TODAY: Here’s a fact of life: Survivor: Philippines will reward $1 million to its winner tonight. Meanwhile, the remaining contestants will spend the season finale plucking the knives from their backs. 8 p.m., CBS.

TODAY: TV dating shows that result in nuptials are more rare than lunar eclipses. So, yes, we’re honored to be invited to The Bachelorette: Ashley and J.P.’s Wedding, which had 2010’s leading lady Ashley Hebert tying the knot with J.P. Rosenbaum. 9 p.m., ABC.

MONDAY: Bill Pullman and Jenna Elfman play the president and first lady in 1600 Penn. It’s a White House-set family sitcom that gets a sneak peek Monday, ahead of its official Jan. 10 premiere. 9:31 p.m., NBC.

TUESDAY: The “coaches” can mouth off all they want from their big red chairs, but the viewers will have total control over who captures the big prize as The Voice airs its glitzy season finale. 9 p.m., NBC.

WEDNESDAY: Break out the evening gowns and the swimsuits, it’s time for the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant. Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic are our hosts for the event, which draws beauties from more than 80 countries. 8 p.m., NBC.

WEDNESDAY: Brace yourself for plenty of flashbacks during The Year With Katie Couric. It’s a special edition of 20/20 that recaps notable stories and personalties from the past 12 months. 9:31 p.m., ABC.

THURSDAY: Some lucky singer will win a $5 million recording contract on the finale of The X Factor. More importantly, Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato can quit their squabbling, and Khloe Kardashian can go back to whatever she does. 8 p.m., Fox.

THURSDAY: Our long national nightmare is over. Jersey Shore finally comes to a close after six seasons of drunken antics, numerous arrests, spray tans, and hot-tub make-out sessions. 10 p.m., MTV.

FRIDAY: Conan O’Brien returns to host Christmas in Washington. It’s a concert special, attended by the Obama family, that features performances by, among others, Diana Ross, Megan Hilty and Scotty McCreery. 8 p.m., TNT.

SATURDAY: The 10th annual WWE Tribute to the Troops is a slam-bang holiday special. It has Kid Rock, Flo Rida, and the Muppets joining pro wrestlers and divas to entertain military personnel and their families. 9 p.m., NBC.
