Dragons descend on the Maumee

Teams face off during a race at the 12th annual Grand Maumee Dragon Boat Festival on the Maumee River. The festival on Saturday featured races of teams in 40-foot-long boats with up to 20 rowers. The Hong Kong-style boats are based on ancient Chinese designs, complete with head and tail. The festival, which had free admission, also included crafts, origami, calligraphy, and Chinese kite-flying. Proceeds from the event benefit Partners In Education.
