Pro volleyball tour visits Toledo this weekend

The Midwest Professional Volleyball Association will bring its beach volleyball tour to Toledo tomorrow and Sunday at International Park, as part of a nine-stop summer tour.

The tournament comprises two-person men's and women's teams competing for $5,000 in prize money. The men's winners will split $900, the women's winners $700.

Play will begin each day at 9 a.m. On Saturday matches are expected to continue until 5 p.m. On Sunday the women's championship match will begin about 3 p.m., with the men's title match immediately following.

There is no admission charge.

Perrysburg's Jay Oliver teams with Dave Chapman to form one of the top men's teams, and Bill DeVault is another local competitor. Former Toledoan Michelle Ferguson and former University of Toledo setter Amy DeLong form one of the top women's teams. Dana Woodson is another local woman who will compete.
