Local golf notes: McIntyre sweeps junior awards

Dan McIntyre swept two top awards in the Toledo Junior Golf Association. He was named Frank Stranahan Player of the Year and earned the Paul Hahn Sportsmanship Award for 2001.

Wilawan Nopkhun was named the Sharon Keil Girls Player of the Year.

Meanwhile, Mike Zimmerman and Kristen Tremoulis were winners at the TJGA Invitational.

In other junior golf news, Toledoan Matt Tashenberg was the scoring average leader among boys age 14-15 in this year's Meijer Junior Players Tour. He averaged 78.3 strokes.

COURSE RECORD: Brian Eggleston, an assistant professional at Toledo Country Club, recently set a course record with a round of 60, snapping a record of 61 held by Rick Smith, a one-time TCC assistant, for more than two decades.

FADEL OUSTED: Toledoan Alan Fadel was eliminated 2 and 1 by Danny Sahl of Sherwood Park, Alberta yesterday in the third round of match play in the Canadian Amateur golf championship in Mississauga, Ont.
