Rookie gets win at Toledo Speedway

Rookie driver Kyle DeLisle notched a win in the 35-lap ARCA Sportsman feature event Friday night at Toledo Speedway.

The second-generation driver, in just his second start at the Glass City oval, inherited the lead with two laps to go when leader Jim Froling and Ron Allen tangled in Turn 2.

Both drivers went to the tail of the field, giving the LaSalle, Ont., native the lead. He held on and met his father, former Toledo Sportsman champ Dan DeLisle, in the winner's circle.

Tom Adams Jr. was second, Norm Lewallen third, Allen fourth, and Scott Lockenhour was fifth.

The 20-lap ARCA Figure 8 race saw Dennis Whisman become the fourth and final leader when defending champ Robbie Loving tangled with a lapped car, giving Whisman a shot at the lead. Dennis darted by on lap 17 and held on to win the contest, which went green flag for the entire distance. Loving held on for second with Anthony Terris third, Troy Herrmann fourth, and Chuck Pankow fifth.

DOVER, Del. - Martin Truex Jr. has been first to finish at Dover International Speedway, and now he'll be first to start.

Truex turned a lap of 157.315 mph and won the pole yesterday - nearly three years after he won his only career Cup race at Dover.

Truex won his first pole of the season and first since last November at Phoenix.

The native of Mayetta, N.J., has long considered Dover his hometown track. He made his first career start in NASCAR's second-tier series at Dover in the No. 56 - the same number he uses now in his first season with Michael Waltrip Racing.

Truex could use a strong run to make the jump into the top 12 and move closer to securing a spot in the Chase for the championship.

He's 13th entering tomorrow's race, only 16 points behind Dale Earnhardt Jr. for 12th. He won his fifth career pole.

Kasey Kahne was second and Mark Martin third in qualifying.

Points leader Kevin Harvick was 30th.
