The Toledo Roadrunners Club is gearing up for the 36th annual Glass City Marathon scheduled to take place on April 22.

The marathon runs through many of the Toledo-area neighborhoods, Metroparks trails, and the University of Toledo campus.

Besides the marathon race, a half-marathon, five-person marathon relay, 5K, and a kids marathon are also slated for the day.

A portion of the proceeds from the annual race will benefit the Great Lakes Collaborative for Autism. More than $30,000 from last year's event were donated to the Great Lakes Collaborative for Autism. A goal of giving more than $100,000 to the local non-profit organization for autism has been set for this year's event.

Medical Mutual and Owens Corning represent two new major sponsors for the Glass City Marathon.

Registration can be done at glasscitymarathon.org and will remain open until a wellness and fitness exposition is held on April 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Savage Arena. Limited spots remain in the half-marathon. For more information, contact race director Clint McCormick at 419-356-4881 or Julie W. Champa at 419-290-8629.
