Photos honor heroes, victims of attacks

Dale Ziegler will honor the police force, firefighters, and victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a photography exhibit, “World Trade Center Tragedy,” this weekend in the Brunner Art Gallery in the Sylvania building at Davis College, 4747 Monroe St. The exhibit's photos are from Ziegler's week spent in New York City near Ground Zero. The Perrysburg Area Arts Council celebrated its grand opening Sunday in its new headquarters at 117 West Second St., which is also the home of the Salvaged Arts Store. The council is the official arts organization for the city of Perrysburg and Perrysburg Township. Marti Zallocco has replaced Judy Beck, who will serve as a board member, as the council's new artistic director, and Marilyn Witko Rosinski is the development director. Former Toledo glassblower Laurie Thal, who now lives in Jackson Hole, Wyo., along with glass etcher Melissa Malm, won the juried American Craft Exposition in Evanston, Ill., and a fellowship award from the Wyoming Arts Council. One of the duo's collaborative glass bowls, titled “Yellow Leaves” was selected for purchase by Wyoming as part of the state's Capitol Art Collection.

The University of Toledo Center for the Visual Arts Gallery, 620 Grove Place, presents “Interior Spaces,” an exhibition of mixed-media artwork by artist Kyle through Dec. 12. A public reception for the opening of the 52nd annual Bowling Green State University Faculty and Staff Exhibition is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery in the university's Fine Arts Center. The SeaGate Gallery is accepting art for inclusion in its holiday art exhibit, “Home is Where the Art Is,” to run Dec. 3-Jan. 4.
