Ornament designer in Perrysburg

12/6/2001

Upper Sandusky artist Dianna Swartz, one of 181 artists asked to design an ornament for the main Christmas tree in the Blue Room of the White House in Washington, D.C., will be in Perrysburg Saturday to showcase her work.

Ms. Swartz is to appear from noon to 2 p.m. at Homespun Cupboard, a novelty shop at 123 West Indiana Ave., to sign and sell her collection, which includes wooden boxes and about 40 prints.

The artist's work has been displayed in the Museum of American Folk Art in New York City, and the duplicate of her White House ornament — a miniature historic building — will be on view Saturday. Ms. Swartz was also commissioned to design an ornament on behalf of the Ohio State House Commission for the State Museum Gift Shop.

She will be honored tomorrow by Gov. Bob Taft and his wife, Hope, at the Governor's Mansion for an ornament she designed to hang on the official Ohio tree in Columbus.
