African carvings, textiles on display in SPACE 237

SPACE 237 at 237 North Michigan St. has the show Sankofa on display through March 8. The exhibit features wood carvings of various African ethnic groups and reburial textiles.

The textile part of the display, Once is Never Enough: Textiles, Ancestors, and Reburials in Highland Madagascar, was compiled by Dr. Rebecca Green, chairwoman of nonwestern art history at Bowling Green State University.

The Art Concept gallery in Reve, 5633 North Main St., Sylvania, has on display The Love Show, which explores the theme of love, through Feb. 14. Artists featured include Renee Spillis, Kay Weprin, Dorothy Linden, Neil Frankenhauser, Carol Imes-Luscombe, Marty Reichenthal, Kimberly Arden, and Constandena Mandros. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Perrysburg Area Arts Council will offer a host of youth art programs at 117 West Second St., Perrysburg. Classes, most of which begin in February, include watercolors and family drawing. Registration: 419-873-2787.

The 41st annual Ann Arbor Street Art Fair is accepting artist applications for the event scheduled July 17-20 in the South University area of downtown Ann Arbor.
