Paper snowflakes to fill museum

The Toledo Museum of Art, 2445 Monroe St., is featuring snowflake paper cuttings by Thomas L. Clark Thursday through the end of the month. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Information: 419-255-8000.

Heralding the Holidays is scheduled this weekend in Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Dr.

For the event, resident artists and organizations, including the glassblowers, potters, and weavers, will present live demonstrations and offer their work for sale. Children's hands-on activities are scheduled, and hot chocolate and hot apple cider will be among available refreshments.

Hours for the event are 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Toledo Artists' Club in the Toledo Botanical Garden announces the winners of its holiday show on view through Jan. 3, 2003. Kim Staneluis took best of show; Robert Martin, first place; Sintha Anderson, second place, and Jiana Jin, third place. Honorable mentions went to Lisa Zook-Brenner and Kristi Scarvelis. The club's gallery is open 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The oil paintings of Carol Block are being featured through Jan. 3 at 20 North Gallery, 20 North St. Clair St. Paint This!, a contemporary realism display, includes abstract warriors, portraits, still lifes, and florals. The opening reception is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Information: 419-241-2400.

A Salute to Joseph Sheppard, a celebration exhibit of drawings and paintings by artist Joseph Sheppard, will be on view Friday through Jan. 19 in 20 North's upstairs Loft Gallery. This exhibit coincides with three exhibitions of Sheppard's work in Maryland through March, 2003.

Five Toledo nonprofit organizations have joined to create the Stocking Stuffer Express, a TARTA bus that will transport shoppers for free to unique gift shops at the Toledo Museum of Art, COSI, the Toledo Zoo, Toledo Botanical Garden, and the Toledo Mud Hens souvenir store at Fifth Third Field from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday-Sunday.
