11/7/2003

An exhibit of works by 23 artists known for their proficiency in the art of healing opens tonight at the Toledo Museum of Art Community Gallery with a reception from 6:30 to 8.

The annual “Physician as Artist” exhibit will display 60 paintings, photographs, and drawings by 22 physicians, and a dentist, Milo Danzeisen.

Sponsored by the Academy of Medicine, the nonjuried exhibit draws on the artistic talents of such physicians as A. Arthur Mancini, a urologist who paints; Donna Woodson, a family practitioner who is showing paintings and photographs, and nephrologist Ronald Shapiro, exhibiting painting, digital photos, and computer art.

The exhibit can be seen through Dec. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
