Print exhibition opens

The Paula Brown Gallery, 137 North Michigan Ave. downtown, is hosting an exhibition of prints published by Magnolia Editions to celebrate the gallery's recent expansion of space. The exhibit, on view now through July 19, will feature many artists who have worked with Magnolia, a fine-art print studio in Oakland, Calif., with facilities for lithography, intaglio, relief prints and handmade paper. One of the studio's tapestries will be on display, along with artworks by Guy Diehl, Rupert Garcia, Gus Heinze, Charles Hobson, Dan McCleary, David Settino Scott, Mark Stock, Donald Farnsworth, Diogenes Lucero, John Register, and Rick Dula.

CVA Gallery, located inside the University of Toledo's Center for Visual Arts, 620 Grove Place, adjacent to the Toledo Museum of Art, will be the site of the Athena Art Society's Annual Juried Group Exhibition, on view now through July 9. The exhibit will display more than 50 paintings, prints, drawings, textiles, photos, ceramics, and sculpture by 30 artists. The winners of the juried group exhibit are Laurel Egnew, Best of Show; Pat Beazley, First award; Joan Rigal, Second award; Virginia Kretz, Third award. Honorable mentions went to Inga Reynolds and Danielle Fisher Snyder. The exhibit was juried by H. Daniel Butts III, chairman of the art department at Ohio State University at Mansfield, Ohio. Winner of the people's choice award at the Salon des Refuses is Elizabeth Jordan for her drawing of three smiling boys. The award was announced Friday night. Two starving artist awards went to Shannon Bruns and Greg Pannettz. The Salon show continues through June 30 at 20 North Gallery at 20 North St. Clair Street. Flatlanders Art Galleries, 11993 East US 223, Blissfield, Mich., presents drawings and paintings by artist George Graveldinger, on view now through July 30 in the Great Gallery, and "Mapping the Memory" an exhibition of prints by Shanti Conlan, on view June 29 through August 29 in the Garden Gallery. The Fourth Annual A.R.T., Art 'Round Town, a yearlong outdoor sculpture art exhibit in the downtown areas of Saugatuck and Douglas, Mich., will feature several area artists' works, including James Havens of Woodville, Ohio, and Mike Barker and Ken Thompson, both of Blissfield, Mich. The Community Gallery of the Toledo Museum of Art, 2445 Monroe St., is the site of an exhibition titled, "same destination: different paths" on view now through June 26 featuring the photographic prints of Seder Burns. For the Love of Art, Inc., 6725 West Central Ave., announces its weekly youth art workshops for students kindergarten through sixth grade, scheduled to run June 21 through Aug. 13. Weekly workshops cost $36 per student for a week of classes. Topics include Puppets 'R Art; No Brushes Allowed; Birds, Beasts and Bobbleheads, and a sculpture workshop entitled "Take Some and Leave Some."
