Landscape show features eight artists

Contemporary Ohio Landscapes will welcome students back to Owens Community College.

The 45 pieces in the Terhune Gallery, the first of seven shows during the 2004-2005 academic year, include realistic oil paintings, metal vessels, ceramics, and photographs of aspects that compose the landscapes we see most often - earth movers and telephone poles.

Landscapes, says gallery director Wynn Perry, are universal. Eight artists offer their vision: Brad Phalin, photographs; Mary Pencheff, photographs; Ann Tubbs, majolica ceramics; John Reddington, realistic paintings; Constandena Mandros, paintings; Danielle N. Crissman, hammered copper sculptures; Lanna Pendleton Hall, paintings that emphasize the sky, and Neil Frankenhauser, paintings.

A reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 20 in the gallery.

Contemporary Ohio Landscapes runs Monday through Sept. 17 in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts at Owens Community College. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Beginning Aug. 23, hours will extend to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Information: 419-662-2721.
