Spectrum Gallery opens fall show Wednesday

Spectrum Gallery Friends of Fine Art, located in the Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Dr., will open its fall show in their main gallery Wednesday; it will run through Nov. 19. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. Information: 419-531-7769.

The public is invited to participate in a celebration and unveiling of a three-panel mural by artist Yusuf Lateef, which was inspired by conversations with North Toledo youths and reflects their shared visions, at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Stickney Banquet Hall, 3247 Stickney Ave. The event is a part of Toledo's "Erase the Hate" campaign and is free. Heidelberg College will open "Celebrating Art: Selected Works of the Toledo Tile Club," with an artists' reception from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Arrowhead Campus, 1757 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee. The Toledo-Lucas County Library Main Branch, 325 Michigan St., presents the traveling exhibition "Painting with Paper," featuring original children's book illustrations by award-winning Toledo author and illustrator Denise Fleming, from Oct. 21 through Dec. 20 in the second-floor gallery. A free grand opening and reception will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 21 and will feature a lecture and book signing by Fleming.
