Opening of Kismet's Sylvania gallery slated

Kismet Gallery will be having the Grand Opening "Meet the Artists and Wine Reception" of it's third location from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 17 at 5627 Main St., Sylvania. Kismet features over 75 artists who create original, one-of-a-kind art and accessories for home and office. Also all three Kismet Gallery locations will be hosting "Ornaments Extraordinaire," featuring the work of Becky Aubry, Mary Ellen Graham, Dale Heuberger, Randy Kuntz, Larry Mack, Shawn Messenger, Nagy Glass, Erica Picken, Jan Pugh, John Sutton and Jim Yarrito, Nov. 17 through Dec. 25. The Toledo Arts Commission opens a 2-D visual art exhibit by Clayton Peterson and Candra Boggs, in the Parkwood Gallery, 1838 Parkwood Ave., through Dec. 1. A opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow. Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Information: 419-254-2787.

"Hands Dancing" an exhibition of works by artists from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, continues through Nov. 17 in Bowling Green State University's Compton Hall. Hours are 2:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.

"Reflections through Print" a Chapman Community Service Learning Project opens at BGSU's Bowen-Thompson Student Union Art Galleries, today through Dec. 2. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

A memorial exhibition celebrating the work and legacy of Robert "Bud" Hurlstone, former head of the glass program at the university's school of art, will open with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Willard Wankelman Gallery of BGSU's Fine Arts Center. The exhibit will run through Jan. 18. A panel discussion "Hurlstone and his Hellions: A Brilliant Legacy," will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 12 in Rm. 204 of the Fine Arts Center. The Lucas County Commissioners will host an exhibit commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution with a 22 poster display that depicts the events in Szeged during the revolution, in the Birmingham Branch Library, 203 Paine Ave. The exhibit runs through November. Owens Community College Findlay-Area Campus, 300 Davis St., Findlay, will host "The Edge of the Sea: Shapes Colors and Images of Nature" an exhibit of eclectic photography and acrylic paintings portraying the dynamics of nature, by mother and son Marie Louden-Hanes and Brook Louden Hanes, in the campus library through November.
