Arts Extravaganza, a celebration of creativity, continues expanding in its third year at Bowling Green State University.

Tomorrow night's free event, 6 to 10 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center, is a bounty of visual art from beginning students to nationally known faculty, as well as demonstrations and performances of music, theater, dance, and even stand-up comedy.

The building's galleries and studios will be open with displays of the best work by some of the 800 students majoring in art.

"It's a casual invitation for people to see what's going on," said Dennis Wojtkiewicz, a professor of art and a painter. "What's nice about this is you actually have an option to talk with students and faculty. You can sample, and move around the building."

Not to be missed is the lively exhibition in the Bryan Gallery by some of BGSU's 50 full and part-time art faculty.

In the Wankelman Gallery, art-history students have curated a show of the handsome glass and stone work by the late Robert "Bud" Hurlstone, who headed the school's glass-art program for 28 years. Several faculty pieces will be sold at silent auction, with proceeds benefiting a scholarship in Hurlstone's name.

Other highlights include:

• Some student and faculty art will be for sale. Gift wrapping will be in Room 132.

• Weaving, glassblowing, jewelry, metals, and photogramming will be demonstrated. Aesthetic virtual environments will be displayed at 7 in Room 1030.

• At 8, hot bronze will be poured for a sculpture in Room 1112.

• Digital animation shorts will be shown in Room 1101.

• From 6:30 to 8, Akiki Jones and her students will discuss the Japanese tea ceremony in the Hiroko Nakamoto Gallery in the Bryan Gallery.

• Children's crafts will be offered in Room 132 until 9 p.m.

• In the Bryan Gallery lobby, an early music ensemble will perform at 5, a flute trio at 6, a bluegrass band at 7, and a saxophone quartet at 8:30.

• Theatrical works will be presented nonstop in Room 2000, including stand-up comedy at 6:15 and a demo of stage combat at 8:15.

• Dance will begin at 6, followed by an 8:30 concert in another location, 222 Eppler North, featuring senior projects and student choreography. Admission for the concert is $5.

The free Arts Extravaganza will be tomorrow, 6 to 10 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center at Bowling Green State University. Information: 419-372-2609.
