Salon des Refuses to open in Parkwood

Spectrum Friends of Fine Arts will host the Salon des Refuses in the Parkwood Gallery, 1838 Parkwood Ave., May 17 through June 8. The exhibit offers any artists rejected by the Toledo Area Artists' Exhibition a venue to have their work displayed in a traditional salon style. Many works will be for sale. Take-ins are today and tomorrow after 9 a.m. An opening reception will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. May 17. Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Information: 419-254-2787.

The annual "Quilting for the Black Swamp" exhibition has been relocated to the Toledo Mennonite Church, 5501 Nebraska Ave., where exhibit hours are 1 to 8 p.m. May 18 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 19. Admission is free.

ART-A-FAIR 2007 the first annual juried art show by PRISM Creative Community, will be on display through June 28 in the main branch gallery of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, 325 Michigan St. Library hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday and May 20. The Lenawee Council for the Visual Arts, 112 West Maumee St., Adrian, presents the first "Spotlight Exhibition" featuring artists Sarah Miller, James Freeman and Clay Leonard, today through June 16. The Toledo School for the Arts' National Honor Society is accepting submissions for the second annual Flying Pig Film Festival, where students in grades 6 to 12 may submit works in seven categories: short comedy, short drama, long comedy, long drama, documentary, animated, and music videos. The festival, with awards and a cash prize for best picture, will be held at 6 p.m. June 14 in the school, 333 14th St. The deadline for submissions is June 1. Admission for the event is $5.
