Nature exhibit changes venues
6/21/2007The beauty of nature as interpreted by 26 local artists is displayed in Artists in the Garden through July 13 in the Parkwood Gallery.
The annual show previously was mounted at the Manor House in Wildwood Preserve Metropark, however the Metroparks of the Toledo Area changed the venue this year in part because of construction to the garden. A reception will be 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, with music by the CEO Band. The gallery is at 1828 Parkwood Ave., across Monroe Street from the Toledo Museum of Art. A reception for students participating in the summer Art Integrated Math program will start at 11 a.m. June 29 in the Community Gallery at the Toledo Museum of Art where their art-glass will be displayed. During weekly visits to the museum's Glass Pavilion, students have worked with professional artists to create glass by blowing, flameworking, and etching. The program is partnered with the Lucas County Juvenile Court. The museum is at 2445 Monroe St.

A party with an Italian carnival flair will begin at 10 p.m. June 30 in Diva restaurant, 329 Huron St. The installation, by artists Jen Dayton and Miss Mira, includes black and white serigraphs, prints, items hung from the ceiling, and self-portrait cutouts. There will also be visual projections and painted clothing. The artists split their time between Florence, Italy, and the United States.

Flatlanders Art Galleries has announced its summer exhibitions, continuing through Aug. 24. Included are oil paintings by Kim Taylor, prints by Dustyn Bork, tattoo-culture works, and comic-book art. A reception with the artists will be 1 to 4 p.m. July 22 in the gallery at 11993 East U.S. 223, Blissfield, Mich. Call for proposals: The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo is seeking innovative ideas for Artomatic 419 Lite, to be held Sept. 13-16 in downtown Toledo's Fort Industry Square. Proposals can fill an entire room and can be installations, performances, a series of pieces with a theme, or a group show. Selected works will be judged on creativity, integrity, and suitability to the available space.
