Firenation hosting a duel of glass-blowers

Glass artists will challenge each other to a pumpkin-blowing duel between 7 and 10 p.m. tomorrow at Firenation Glass Studio & Gallery, 7155 Front St., Holland. The Monclova Regional Art Show and sale will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 3 and noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 4 in the Monclova Community Center, 8115 Monclova Rd. The free event includes glass, jewelry, metal sculpture, painting, photography, scrimshaw, pottery, wearable art, silk arrangements, and native art. How Pop-Up Books Work will be demonstrated at the Toledo Museum of Art's Libbey Court from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 2. Participants will learn to make their own pop-up books. Information: 419-254-5771.

Two fabric-design workshops in Perrysburg will be offered by Si Won Lee, a visiting Bowling Green State University scholar. She will teach how to use computer software to design fabrics from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 8, in the Way Public Library. The other class, 6 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Schaller Memorial Building, 130 West Indiana Ave., will center on designing and creating a silk scarf using dye techniques. The area's best high school art will be displayed at Focus 2007, Sunday through Nov. 18 at the University of Toledo's Center for Visual Arts Gallery adjacent to the Toledo Museum of Art. It will feature more than 250 works in all media from 27 schools. Artists' reception and open house will be noon to 1 p.m., Nov. 18, followed by an awards ceremony at 1:30 p.m. in the Glass Pavilion. The Tiffin Glass Collectors Club will host its Fall Glass and Antiques Show and Sale at the Seneca County School of Opportunity, 780 East County Road 20, off State Route 100, south of Tiffin.
