Gerry Church's oil portraits are on display in the Croswell Opera House's art gallery through the end of the month. Church paints in the method of 15th century Flemish and Netherlandish masters, a technique allowing each of seven layers of paint to dry before the next layer is applied. The effect is of highlights, mid-tones, and shadows reminiscent of Renaissance-era portraiture. The gallery is at 129 East Maumee St., Adrian.
