It is one of the northwest Ohio music scene s paradoxes:
It s bone-chilling cold and Pat Dailey best known as a summer-time bar-based singer/songwriter is coming to Toledo. And he s not holing up in a tavern, but instead is taking the stage tomorrow for the 10th anniversary of his regular winter shows at the Valentine Theatre.
As a fixture on the bar scene both up here and in Key West, Fla., where he has a regular gig at Sloppy Joe s Bar, Dailey is a proven entertainer with a loyal following that knows all his songs. His style of music leans toward country and Jimmy Buffet-style acoustic ballads and party songs.
Dailey has been on his annual mini-tour of Ohio and Michigan, playing the Cleveland area, Dayton, Toledo, Columbus, and Detroit before returning to Florida in February. He s also a summer regular in Put-In-Bay and already has shows scheduled there this year.
Dailey has been a regular at the Valentine Theatre in downtown Toledo for the last nine years, but was forced to relocate last year s show to the Park Inn Hotel Ballroom because of repairs being made to the Valentine following an explosion in the theater s basement last year.
He strives for intimacy in his concerts.
It s just kind of one of those up-close-and-personal things, Dailey told The Blade last year. I just want it to sound like I m sitting in my living room playing songs for you.
His shows are bawdy and are aimed at an adult audience. Tickets for tomorrow s Valentine concert are $15, 32, and $39 and show time is 8 p.m. Information: 419-242-2787 or online at www.valentinetheatre.com.
