44th annual Crosby fest is June 27-28

The 44th annual Crosby Festival of the Arts is slated for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 27, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 28 at Toledo Botanical Garden. In addition to 240 artists selling their wares, there will be live entertainment, food and adult beverages for purchase, kids' activities, and the Garden Club Forum's flower show. George Benson's acrylic abstracts, sea and landscapes are displayed through June 30 at Downtown Latte, 44 South St. Clair St.

Flatlanders Art Galleries presents The (un)Stable Artists of Flatlanders: Jason Arbogast, James Freeman, John Leyland, Nathan Longsdorf, Michael Joseph, Denise Keeley, Margo McCafferty, Megan Merrell-Butler, Tom Rudd, Ken Thompson, and Mark Wagar. Twenty members of the Toledo Area Sculptors Guild are showing 96 works through Saturday in the Wankelman Gallery at Bowling Green State University.

An outdoor sculpture show displaying 25 pieces opens Saturday afternoon in Williams Park in Gibsonburg, Ohio, and continues for 12 months. A reception will be 5 to 6 p.m. in the park's shelter house, followed by a 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. gathering at the nearby Havens Studio, 211 Cedar St.

The Cleveland Museum of Art will open 21 galleries holding 500 pieces of art in its new East Wing June 27. The museum's collections of modern European painting and sculpture, Impressionism, photography, and decorative arts will return to public view for the first time since 2005 when galleries were closed for construction. The East Wing is the first to open of three new spaces designed by architect Rafael Violy. The museum has raised more than $200 million for its update, scheduled for completion in 2012. A new multimedia exhibit, Different by Design: The Styling of Edsel Ford, explores Ford's attention to design and his passion for customizing the objects and spaces around him. It opens Saturday in Ford House, the home he shared with his wife, Eleanor Ford.

Featured will be three cars he customized: a 1934 Brewster Town Car, a 1938 Lincoln K Brunn Brougham, and a 1941 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet. Ford also added his mark to the landscape and architecture of this sprawling estate on Lake St. Clair northeast of Detroit. His designs played a significant role in automotive styling of the 1930s and beyond.

Sunday, there will also be an automotive show featuring 200 vehicles from the past, present, and future. Among the vendors will be Ted McLaren of Perrysburg, selling originals and prints of his automotive art. McLaren was awarded the best of show prize at last year's event. Admission will be charged.
