Elmore's Schedel Arboretum hosting several exhibits

At Schedel Arboretum and Gardens in Elmore, the photographs of Michael Basista will be displayed in the Trellis Gallery from Wednesday to Sept. 14. Works by Ivan Kende will be on display in the new Brown Welcome Center through Aug. 15. Throughout the garden are 17 bronze sculptures by Barry Woods Johnston, in place through October. Closing Sunday is a display of work by the Monday Morning Painters. A reception for the artists will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Light: The Effect Of is on view at the Toledo Artists' Club through Aug. 20. Artists whose work is on display include Monica Birsen, Vava Campbell, Anthony Carmona, Ronald Fox, Dennis Herbster, Marti Huepenbecker, Sharon Rapp, Harold Roe, David Smith, and Tom Sorrell. The club is in the Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Drive.

At the Toledo Museum of Art, docents will give free tours in the Glass Pavilion at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. Also in the pavilion, the exhibit Radiant Ensemble: Jewelry from the Nancy & Gilbert Levine Collection, will close Sunday. The Levine jewelry is an intended gift to the museum.

Opening tomorrow with a 6 p.m. reception is an exhibit of paintings by Toledoan Gale Stephens in the spacious Truth Art Gallery. She's a graduate of Scott High School, where she became interested in art as a student of Ernie Jones. The gallery is at 1811 Adams St.

The Ottawa County Historical Museum is displaying a digital slide show of paintings by the late George Jensen. Included are images of more than 100 landscape oils, pencil drawings, and still-life paintings by Jensen, who was born in 1878 in Port Clinton to Danish immigrants. In 1912, he had a solo show at the Toledo Museum of Art. Jensen studied art, worked in art advertising, and painted. He taught until he was 95 and died in 1977 at the age of 99.
