Rod Bigelow has been named interim executive director of the Toledo Museum of Art, effective Oct. 1.

As the museum s chief operating officer since February, 2008, Mr. Bigelow, 40, oversees finance, human resources, information technology, facilities, maintenance, and protective services.

He will lead the museum during the board s search for a new director.

Don Bacigalupi, museum president, director, and chief executive officer since 2003, announced last week that he has accepted the directorship of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark., an undertaking of Alice Walton, daughter and heir of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton.

Serving as deputy director at the Toledo museum will be Carolyn Putney, 56, who has worked there for 31 years. She is director of collections and curator of Asian art.
