15 artists display works as postcards at American Gallery

Looking for art postcards of Northwest Ohio scenery and landmarks? For an exhibit opening Saturday, 15 painters and photographers each submitted three pieces to the American Gallery and had postcards made of their works. The Northwest Ohio Postcard Show will kick off with a 5 to 7 p.m. reception Saturday in the gallery, 6600 Sylvania Ave., Sylvania. Works are by Pete Beckmann, Aaron Bivins, Howard Burkert, Bill Chapin, Tom Durnford, Laural Egnew, Kathy Genzman, David Kelly, Stevie Grand-Lubell, Lanna Pendleton Hall, Bob Martin, Carol Pletz, Marie Vogt, Art Weber, Lucy Webster.

Houston Freeburg, the collector of 150 posters featured in the exhibit The Psychedelic 60s: Posters from the Rock Era, will speak at 7:30 p.m. June 11 in the Little Theater of the Toledo Museum of Art. The free show of 150 posters will open the same day.

The art fair at Saturday and Sunday's Old West End Festival, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be in the garden surrounding the museum's Glass Pavilion.

Italian Renaissance Oils: Glazing Techniques for Realism is a week-long workshop, June 21-25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Perrysburg High School. Debra Buchanan will teach and there is a fee. The class is organized by Prizm Creative Community. Registration deadline is June 16. Information: 419-874-9068.

The Abstract Show displays 40 works through June 25 at the Toledo Artists' Club in the Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Dr. Information: 419-531-4079.

Teddy bear artist Mary Ann Racheau will be at Victorian Garden from 2 to 4 p.m. June 13, 102 West Adrian, Blissfield, Mich.

FINDLAY

Collage art themed to children and adoption will be at the University of Findlay's Lea Gallery inside the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion, through June 18. A reception with artist Kaitlin Helberg, who drew on her own experiences when creating pieces for the show, will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. June 12 in the gallery. Helberg teaches art at Napoleon High School. Also at UF, the 17th Mazza Summer Conference will be July 12-16, featuring more than 10 authors and illustrators of children's books. Participants may attend for enjoyment or for credit and may work on specific topics at breakout sessions. Fees range from $65 per day to $225 for the week, with additional costs if being taken for credit. Registration will close when maximum participation is reached or July 10. ANN ARBOR AREA

Garden art — containers, fire pits, birdhouses and bird baths, stepping stones, statuary, tiles, and other items — will be displayed in the Clay Gallery, 335 South Main St., Ann Arbor through June 26.
