Glass collectors host annual show in Tiffin

The Tiffin Glass Collectors Club will host its 26th Annual Glass Show and Sale Saturday and Sunday in the Seneca County Opportunity Center, 780 East County Rd. 20, Tiffin. Glass dealers from several states will join area dealers at this popular event. Admission, $3, is good for both days and there is no charge for children. In addition, the Tiffin Glass Museum, displaying more than 1,000 pieces of glassware and memorabilia from the town's former factory, will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at 25 South Washington St. Information: 419-447-5505 and tiffinglass.org.

Poets/Artists SPEAK, a fund-raiser for NoKidHungry, will be at two locations Saturday: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Levis Commons' Fat Fish Blue in Perrysburg, and 6 to 11 p.m. at Hines Farm Blues Club, 3950 South Berkey Southern Rd. in Swanton. Admission will be charged. Information: wmikki@gmail.com.

Call for artists: A new public art work is being commissioned for the key entrance to Toledo's Old Orchard neighborhood on Kenwood Boulevard at Secor Road. The budget for this City of Toledo One Percent for Art project is $20,000. Deadline is Aug. 26. Eligible to submit designs are people living in Allen, Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot counties in Ohio, and Lenawee and Monroe counties in Michigan. A nonjuried show providing youth and adults with an opportunity to display their work in a professional gallery setting is the Fourth Annual NOWOH Community Art Exhibition, July 15-24 in the Fine Arts Center at Bowling Green State University. Deadline is July 7. People of all skill levels creating in a variety of media are welcome to participate. More than $1,000 in cash and merchandise will be awarded. Who Gets to Call it Art, a 2006 film, will be screened at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Little Theater at the Toledo Museum of Art. It's a 78-minute romp through the 1960s art scene in New York City and is centered on the adventurous life of Henry Geldzahler, a curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
