New arts advisory board slates workshop series

The recently formed Whitehouse Arts Advisory Board has announced a series of classes/workshops open to the public.

Three workshops have been scheduled and others are being finalized.

The arts advisory board plans to have at least one workshop per month featuring a variety of topics and skill levels. Classes are for adults and children over age 13. Classes for younger children will be set up at a later time.

Upcoming activities include:

Fairy garden/miniature landscape, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22, presented by design specialists from Oak Park Landscape & Water Garden Center. Cost is $20 and covers materials needed to make a miniature garden, complete with plants and garden accents.

Leaf-casting, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12, presented by the design specialists from Oak Park Landscape & Water Garden Center. Cost is $20; participants will make and take home a leaf-casting to place in their home or garden. All materials are included in the price.

Acrylic painting, from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 5, taught by Brenda Clixby, a Toledo artist. At the completion of the class, each participant will take home a finished piece of art, ready to hang. Easels, stools, and all supplies will be furnished to complete the 16-inch by 20-inch canvas painting. Cost is $35 per person.
