    Brian Felster: A Life in Photos, will open with a 7 to 10 p.m. reception Friday. The late Felster loved photography and worked at the Collingwood Arts Center, site of tomorrow's event. The show continues through March 31. The center is at 2413 Collingwood Blvd. Information: 419-244-2787.

    Paintings by the late Clay Walker: from figuration to abstraction, will be at River House Arts, beginning with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and continuing through April 20. An abstract expressionist who painted, made wood cuts, and specialized in printmaking, Walker was born in Kentucky in 1924 and raised in the Toledo area. The gallery, at 115 W. Front St. in Perrysburg, previously showed his work in late 2009. Information: 419-874-8900.

    A 7 p.m. Saturday reception in the Library House Gallery will open an exhibit for Peter Koelsch, who will demonstrate his mold-making process and discuss his work. Featured will be an 11-foot-cast-aluminum tiger based on the Masters of the Universe character, Battle Cat. The show will include eight additional sculptures, painted portraits, and sketches, and will continue through June 3. The gallery is at 24164 Front St. in Grand Rapids. Information: 419-830-3080.

    Jay Shafer will discuss minimalistic living at 7 p.m. March 8 in the Toledo Museum of Art's Peristyle Theater. He's the founder of the Tumbleweed Tiny House Co. and one of his tiny houses is parked on the steps of the museum during the Small Worlds exhibit. He will be interviewed by Steven Litt, art and architecture writer at the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

    Toledo SOUP, at which guests pay $5 for a light dinner, then listen to five proposals for new community projects and vote on which to support, will be 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Davis Building Lobby, 116 10th St. The top vote-getter will receive a micro grant, raised from the dinner of homemade soup, salad, and bread. The intent is to build community support for small creative projects that will have immediate impact. Five of 32 applicants were selected to make presentations beginning at 6 p.m., with dinner at 6:30.     Call for artists: The Ninth Annual Downtown Monroe Fine Art Fair will be Aug. 11 and 12 and is seeking artists for the event, concurrent with the nearby River Raisin Jazz Festival.     Adrian First Fridays, a new monthly event in downtown Adrian, kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday, coinciding with the Wine About Winter celebration. Dozens of artists will exhibit at 14 walkable venues, and there will be free food and wine tastings. An exhibit of photographic landscapes by Charles T. Gabriel of Maumee will open with a 5 to 7 p.m. reception Friday in the Adrian Public Library, 143 E. Maumee St. Also at the library, poetry readings and acoustic music will entertain at an open mic, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Oil paintings by Margaret Davis will be at the Lenawee Council for Visual Arts Gallery inside the Croswell Opera House, 129 E.
