Dana factory for Jeep on track

Dana Corp.'s bankruptcy will have no effect on establishing a Toledo factory preparing to supply parts to Toledo Jeep Assembly complex, spokesmen for the companies say.

Because the factory, which eventually is to have 85 employees, is part of a contract with DaimlerChrysler AG, special permission from U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York is not needed, said Dana spokesman Chuck Hartlage. "We have to get the factory up and running."

Chrysler is in contact with Dana management, and there are no concerns in Toledo or elsewhere because of the bankruptcy, said automaker spokesman Markus Mainka.

"This has no affect on our operation," he said.

Mr. Hartlage declined to comment on the status of hiring at the factory at 315 Matzinger Rd., which is to have 60 employees by the end of the year.

Average wages are to be $15 an hour.
