Appeals court upholds GM, Ford health cuts

8/8/2007

CINCINNATI The Sixth U.S. Court of Appeals yesterday upheld General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. cuts to United Auto Worker retiree health-care benefits.

The cuts were agreed to last year in court settlements involving the two largest U.S. automakers and the union, requiring retirees to pay part of their health costs for the first time.

The court s ruling denied a request by retirees to undo the agreements.
