DETROIT General Motors Corp. said yesterday it is offering buyouts and retirement incentives to 5,200 United Auto Workers-represented hourly employees at GM s service and parts and operations facilities across the country.
GM is expected to implement the second phase of the program in early 2008 for UAW-represented hourly employees at assembly, stamping, powertrain, and engineering facilities.
More than 34,000 GM workers left last year through retirement or buyouts, the company said.
