Automaker to boost ethanol-capable vehicles

CHICAGO General Motors Corp. said yesterday that half its U.S. vehicle volume will run on ethanol by 2012.

In a speech at the Chicago Auto Show, Troy Clarke, president of GM North America, said GM will have 11 ethanol-capable vehicles on the market this year and 15 in 2009. Mr. Clarke also announced that GM will produce its first four-cylinder ethanol-capable model, the FlexFuel Chevrolet HHR, in 2010.
