GM revises shutdown schedule at Toledo plant

General Motors Corp. yesterday announced a revision to its production plans at its Toledo Powertrain plant, adding two weeks of production that had previously been unscheduled but beginning the shutdown one week earlier.

Spokesman Wanda Wellman said the local plant will begin its extended shutdown on Monday, but will return for two one-week production runs the weeks of May 26 and July 6.

Separately, the company said its salaried employees nationwide will receive 75 percent of their pay when the firm idles 14 North American plants this year, the first time those workers will get a check when they re not on the job. They also will receive benefits.
