Chrysler Group LLC said Thursday it bought out Mitsubishi Motors Corp., and Hyundai Motor Co. stakes in a small-engine factory in Dundee.

Chrysler has run the plant under the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance name for a few years. It is expected to obtain additional work from Chrysler to make engines for new, small cars.

The plant has two factories, though one has never been put into operation. The plant has won top production honors from a well-respected industry consultant for each of the past two years among all vehicle engine makers in the United States and Canada.

The joint venture ended Aug. 31, though no financial terms were disclosed.
