Sen. Brown pushes Chrysler to invest in Toledo Jeep

“There's no better way to showcase the Ohio worker's role in the success of a company like Chrysler than bringing additional work to the Toledo facility," Mr. Brown said Thursday.

Chrysler's Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne told The Blade this month that he expects to make an announcement by summer of investment at Toledo Assembly. Industry analysts expect Chrysler will add equipment and have the plant that makes Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro make other vehicles. Also, it's possible the factories which make the Jeep Wrangler could start making a Wrangler pickup truck, Chrysler has said.

The automaker has announced a wave of investments at its plants nationwide, but not yet the Toledo Jeep facility.

Mr. Brown, who last visited the Toledo complex with Vice President Joe Biden in August, sent a letter to Mr. Marchionne to support an investment.

The Toledo auto show opens at 3 p.m. Thursday and runs through Sunday at the SeaGate Convention Centre.
