Cooper Tire notches higher profit, sales

FINDLAY — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. Friday reported higher fourth-quarter and 2010 profits and sales.

For the year, the Findlay tire manufacturer said it had a profit of $140 million, or $2.24 a share, up 171 percent from the $52 million, or $1.02 a share, in 2009. Sales for last year were $3.4 billion, up 21 percent from the $2.8 billion in 2009.

For the fourth quarter, the company said it had a profit of $40 million, or 64 cents a share, up from the profit of $39 million, or 63 cents a share, for the same period in 2009. Sales for the last quarter were $920 million, up 19 percent from $773 million a year earlier. 

The company also announced a quarterly cash dividend of 10.5 cents a share, payable March 31 to holders of record on March 3.
