MANSFIELD, Ohio — A northern Ohio company that makes exhaust systems and other parts for Honda vehicles is laying off about 130 full-time employees.

The Mansfield News Journal reports the workers were laid off Monday by Newman Technology Inc.

Newman Technology human resources manager Doug Turman tells the newspaper it's a response to Honda slowing production after a massive earthquake in Japan damaged factories there last month. The damage has interrupted the supply chain for some automakers.

Turman said Newman Technology also laid off about 130 temporary workers in late March. Before the cuts, it had employed about 700 people and was one of the largest employers in Richland County.
