WASHINGTON -- Hyundai is recalling 205,233 of its Santa Fe and Veracruz crossover vehicles, citing airbag system problems.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration says the 2007 and 2008-year cars were built between Dec. 26, 2006, and March 21, 2008. NHTSA says the clock spring contact assembly for the driver’s airbag may become damaged through use. That could keep the airbag from deploying and protecting the driver.
