Toyota cancels overtime at North American sites
10/27/2011TOKYO -- Toyota Motor Corp. canceled overtime production planned for this week at assembly plants in Indiana, Kentucky, and Canada and an engine factory in West Virginia as floods in Thailand disrupt parts shipments.
In the announcement on its Web site, the company didn’t detail the types of parts it gets from Thailand.
Toyota is working to restock U.S. dealers after Japan’s record earthquake and tsunami in March cut vehicle production because of parts shortages.
Toyota, based in Toyota City, Japan, has said it will operate North American plants with overtime shifts for the remainder of 2011 to rebuild vehicle inventory.
